Matt Mackowiak is the founder and President of Potomac Strategy Group, LLC, a political and corporate communications consultancy. In addition to counseling political candidates and corporate clients, Matt provides weekly political analysis for KTBC Fox 7 and KVUE ABC 24 and is a weekly opinion columnist for The Washington Timesand The New York Observer and is a biweekly columnist for The Austin American-Statesman. He hosts the weekly national political podcast, Mack on Politics, which features interviews with newsmakers on timely issues of policy and politics.
Since graduating from UT in 2003, Matt has worked in the executive branch at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, on the 2004 Bush-Cheney campaign in Iowa, in White House Advance, and at the international PR firm Burson Marsteller. From 2005-2009 Matt served as Press Secretary for U.S. Senators Conrad Burns (R-MT) and Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX).
Matt is the Executive Vice Chairman of the Travis County Republican Party. He serves on the Board of Directors for Austin Community College's Center for Public Policy and Political Studies (CPPPS) and on the Board of Advisors for the Texas Cowboys and for the national Veterans nonprofit Luke's Wings, as well as on the Communications Committee at the Texas Exes.
A graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in Political Communications, Matt and his wife Suzanne live in Austin, TX.
